MEDITATION TIPS AND TECHNIQUES FOR DEPRESSION

The excitement of the holiday period is over and the new year has started.

It’s often a time when we reflect on our life and start to question whether we are living the life we truly want to.

Depression

Days start to feel routine and life becomes more mundane as the festivities and excitement of planning holidays is over.

Now is the time to take a control of your thoughts and your mind.

One negative or sad thought can lead to another and before you know it the snowball effect has happened and you are feeling “down in the dumps” and no longer excited about life.

We spoke to Vikas Malkani our leading expert on Meditation and asked him for one simple tip to get you back on track.

This is his reply :

“Training your mind is all about keeping it focused on the right thoughts.

So focus on the great time you had on your recent holidays and then focus on the blessings that life today brings to you, wherever you are!

If you are alive, there are blessings to be counted.

Stay focused on what’s good in your life, and I promise your life will get even better.

This is the meditators way of enjoying life every day!”

It really does work and all you need to do is decide a time when you will count your blessings in life. Make it part of your routines.

Maybe just before you get out of bed in the morning or last thing at night before you sleep.

This is an example of how it works in practice.

Simply repeat this phrase “I am Blessed” and add a new blessing each time.

Make it specific to your life :

•  I am blessed to be healthy

•  I am blessed to have clean air to breathe

•  I am blessed to have a safe home

•  I am blessed to have a wonderful family

•  I am blessed to be able to travel

•  I am blessed to have received education

•  I am blessed to be able to see the wonders of the world

•  I am blessed to be alive today

•  I am blessed to be in a loving relationship

•  I am blessed to ……..

Continue and before you know it you will be back and excited about life and eagerly anticipating the new day ahead.

Also the more you focus on your blessings then the more you receive blessings!

So it’s a win win situation.

Try it and see – you will for sure want to include it in your daily routine.
